The Use of Landsat-8 and Aster Satellite Imagery to Analyze the Environmental Impact of Artisanal Mining in Santong Bay

I have analyzed the environmental impacts of artisanal mining in Santong Bay using satellite imagery, focusing on water quality and land degradation. In this project, I utilized satellite imagery to monitor changes occurring in the mining area and its surroundings. The analysis involved assessing water quality parameters such as sediment concentration and turbidity using NDTI (Normalized Difference Turbidity Index) and NDSSI (Normalized Difference Suspended Sediment Index), as well as evaluating the impact of mining on land conditions using NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index). The results of this analysis provide crucial insights into the environmental effects of artisanal mining activities and can be used to develop more effective mitigation strategies.
